Process
The admissions process at The Academy is about building a relationship of understanding. We seek to know more about your child and family and for your family to learn more about us. Mission-appropriate and "best fit" families are admitted to the school after review of the application portfolio.

What do we do now?

Additional elements of the process are described below.
Preschool

For admission to PreK3 or PreK4, a family inquires online.

Schedule a tour or visit campus for an information session.

Complete the online application and remit the $40 application fee.

Every family attends a screening event or classroom shadow.

If the candidate is currently in a daycare or preschool, a teacher recommendation is required and should be forwarded directly to the teacher and Director of the center..

Finally, each candidate is individually screened using the Brigance Inventory of Early Childhood Development (IED III) on a date scheduled through the admissions office. Click here to schedule a screening date and time.

Decisions are rendered on a first-come, first-served basis upon completion of all application steps.
Kindergarten

For admission to Kindergarten, a family first inquires online.

Every family should attend a screening event or classroom shadow in PreK4.

A teacher recommendation is required. Please provide the name and email address for their current teacher when prompted.

A copy of the child's current report card is uploaded during the application process.

Every family schedules a shadow visit at the school to spend a full day (rising 2nd-5th) or partial day (rising 1st).

Finally, each candidate will be screened with reading, writing, and mathematics assessments. For older children, the Otis-Lennon School Abilities Test (OLSAT) or Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) will be administered.

Has your child been participating in a home-school program? If so, please complete the Homeschool Instruction Form.
6th-12th

For admission to sixth through twelfth grades, a family first inquires online.

Schedule a tour or visit campus for an information session.

Complete the online application and remit the $40 application fee.

A teacher recommendation is required of both the English-language arts instructor and math instructor. Please provide the name and email address for these teachers when prompted in the online application.

A copy of the child's current report card and any standardized test scores including PSAT, SAT, or ACT is uploaded during the application process.

Every family schedules a shadow visit at the school to spend a full day in classes, escorted by a student ambassador.

Finally, each candidate will be screened with a writing sample and mathematics assessment. For older children, the Otis-Lennon School Abilities Test (OLSAT) or Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) will be administered.
